Talkeetna Library through the years.....
History
Original library
What Was...In March 1973, the first lending library opened in Talkeetna, AK. Located in a room in Nagley's store, it was staffed with volunteers and consisted of donated books. After several interim moves, by late 1982, the local library board had purchased and moved a 1950's era FAA house to the current lot and reopened the library.
In 1985 an addition was completed that gave us a 2,580 sq ft. library. That configuration is the basis for the current library.
In 2010 the cramped quarters and condition of the building led to an application to the Foraker group for an analysis of community needs. That analysis was completed in February of 2012 after loads of community participation.
